Over the last year we’ve transitioned into an incredibly efficient operating model where we kept a core group of employees that represent the core functions of what we need to deliver to clients.

The individuals that represent the core functions have all been with us for over 3 years and will continue to be with us for a long time. They are the standard setters for their functions. They’ve written the SOP documents and tutorials the rest of the team uses to create the quality of work we expect. Also, out of the nine W2 employees on the team, only one has been here less than two years.
Forrest is a great place to work and we have a very strong culture. The team we have loves this company. They are deeply committed to our mission and to putting humanity back in business. They’re a scrappy, agile, self-motived group that continues to push the business to create amazing results for our clients. Most importantly, they’re exceptional humans. There isn’t one person on the team whose character we don’t hold in the highest regard. They’re trustworthy, intentional, caring, and honest, and we’re inspired by being around them.
One key thing to point out about our team is that we have two individuals with us that we would consider eligible to take Forrest and grow it if Brandon and I were not involved. Both are younger (one is 40, the other 30) and are in a position to be with the company for a long time. They both currently have phantom equity in Forrest and are highly motivated by having long-term upside in the company they’re helping to build. They would be around for a long time if the situation is incentivized correctly.

Our Systems
An infrastructure ready for scale
From the first day of Forrest we placed an emphasis on our operations. We set up our operating model to be flexible, agile, and to produce the greatest efficiency out of the team that we could.

All of our projects and tasks are laid out in our project management software and each member of the team knows exactly what’s on their plate at any given moment. We also have a very sophisticated time tracking program in place which has given us the data needed to understand exactly how much time and effort goes into everything we deliver for clients.
Our team has also worked heavily in the highly regulated financial and healthcare markets. We know how to structure projects within those markets to deliver exceptional, profitable work, while accounting for all the nuanced regulatory and compliance hurdles and reviews required in those spaces.
Our operating infrastructure, while not perfect, enables to regularly produce gross margins between 55% and 90%, averaging ~67%. Aside from our overhead, we have low variable costs. In short, there’s a ton of upside baked-in to the model.
